Teaser Tuesday: Moving with Caution.
“So, I’ll see you in Houston?” she queried with a raised eyebrow.
I shrugged. “Maybe you’ll see me before then.”
Her smile caused a warm sensation in my chest. Tearing my eyes from her, I reached into the middle console and retrieved a black velvet box.
“What’s this?”
After she agreed to roll with me today, I had to get her something to express my gratitude. My heart swelled with pride while watching her marvel over her gift.
“Perks of fucking with me.” Heaven shot me a look of disbelief. “You held it down tonight and I appreciate that.”
“I’m just keeping up my end of the deal,” she reminded me.
There was a second of silence. I nodded for her to open the box and so she did. Her eyes grew wide when opened the box to a 16 carat diamond tennis necklace.
“This is beautiful,” she sang while removing it from the box.
Seeing her reaction made me regret not getting the matching earrings.
“Thanks, Key,” she said while reaching for a hug.
I met her halfway and wrapped an arm around her waist. Without thinking, I buried my nose in her neck and inhaled her sweet scent. I kissed the same spot, eliciting a moan from her. A smile curved my lips at the sound. I kissed her again, this time I left a stream of them along her neck and shoulder. She released my neck and pressed her hand into my shoulder to put space between us. The look in her eyes differed from her actions.
“I have to go.”
My eyebrows met. “Give me a kiss before you do.”
The corners of her mouth twitched as she held back a simper. I inched closer to her before cupping her cheek. She tilted her head to the side and brushed her mouth against mine. The feeling of her quickened breaths hit my lips. Before she could pull away, I caught her bottom lip between mine. A quiet moan left her. I kissed her slowly, wanting to taste every part of her mouth and tongue. She matched my energy, deepening the kiss by lapping her tongue against mine. My groin tightened when she raked her nails down the nape of my neck.
I pulled back, needing to end this before things went too far. Messing around with her was like playing with fire. We needed to tread carefully over the next few months. Heaven wanted to experience a no-strings situation, but I knew she wasn’t really about that. This situation would become complicated real quick if I wasn’t cautious.
